Thursday: Visit Grundfos in Weesp
The first point on the day was a visit at Grundfos Holland in Weesp, where we received a warm welcome. The Grundfos company in Weesp only has administration since store and production have been moved to a new distribution center in Eindhoven. From the office in Weesp, they manage all the technicians who are driving around performing service on pump installations. There are many interesting projects, espacially in the wastewater area. There is a huge potential in Holland for the future since everybody must be connected to a public wastewater plant. After a guided tour we had lunch in the canteen.
At the arrival to Grundfos in Weesp we were received by financial director Rein Boer. Inger Sebens and Jørn V. Jensen are handing over presents. |

A very nice entrance. |
A guided tour through the company by Rein Boer |
It is obvious that the production is on move to another place |
The picture is a little blurred, but it shows the emptiness in the plant. |
There were still some assembly work to be done, everything has not been moved yet. |
It looks like a pleasent environment to work in, there are many green plants here and there. |
|
Pictures of the employees made funny, with names on the pictures. |
A view in one of the offices. We were given a detailed explanation abot the sewer systems in the Netherlands where Grundfos has a lot of work assignments. |

Friday: A guided tour in Amsterdam
A guided tour in Amsterdam including a visit at historical workshops for producing cheese, porcelain, wooden shoes and windmills.
The diamonds are in place. They are real, which can be seen on the price. We saw also how the diamonds were cut. |
Diamonds, they were beautiful, but not easy to get. There were armed guards around, so we'd better not take anything. |
Of course we went on a canal tour since we were in the Netherlands, it was just a pity that there was so much rain and wind. |
There were many boats with tourists sailing around. |
There are many houseboats in the Netherlands. They are placed along the canals in large numbers.
This Chinese restaurant is also a houseboat.
Entrance to the Chinese restaurant. It is very impressing. |
A look inside, there were two floors. |
Dinner is served, it was very delicious. |
After the dinner, a cup of coffee or tea. In the picture Inger Sebens, Gerda, Flemming and our host. |
On tour in Amsterdam, but the rain was heavy. |
A time for fun in the bus. Børge is going to be hypnotized. In the picture also Henry, Gerda, Ebba and Birthe. |
Something for the sweet tooth. Jens and Ebba enjoy it. |
A nice evening in one of the hotel rooms. Henry, Inger Marie, Ulla and a laughing Brian. |
There were also dry weather while we were in the Netherlands, but the temperature was not high. This is a view from a street in Amsterdam. |
A relaxing break at a square in Amsterdam. In the picture are Jørn, Børge, Brian, Bjarne and Palle. |
Then rain again, here from the entrance to a working museeum. They produce cheese, wooden shoes, porcelain and many other things. |
Yes, Benthe and Løkke, it is nice with plenty of space in the wooden shoe, but it also leaves room for a lot af water. |
Typical Dutch mills. There were many of them at the museum. |
Here they produce original Dutch wooden shoes, as in the old days. Take a look at the machinery, they were some of the first for this production. |
Wooden shoes in all colours and sizes, produced at the museum. You can get a wooden shoe for all purposes, dancing, a trip in town, for work and many other purposes.
An old cheese dairy. The cheese was produced and sold from the museum. Some of them were very old. Waiting for customers, maybe they will buy some. She could also tell a lot about the cheese. |
The cheese was on display, and it was possible to taste it. |

Saturday: Tournament with Gémert Pétanque club
On Saturday we visited the Dutch petanque club on their invitation. They had arranged a tournament where the German club we visited last year in Erkrath also participated. The club has a very fine clubhouse with all necessary facilities including indoor petanque grounds. It shows also that the Dutch had been training during the winter, they won the tournament. The Germans were also good players. We played in doubles with shifting partners so all Danes played with Danes, Germans and Dutchmen. The games were played very seriously, but in good friendship and the spirits were high during the grill party following the games. Grundfos Petanque Club obtained a second place in the tournament and the best Dane was Jonna Nyrup from Viborg. There were gifts and medals, and a lot of talk about petanque and frindship arose over the borders. It is planned that the German and the Dutch club will come to Denmark in 2006 to participate in a friendship tournament arranged by Grundfos Petanque Club in Bjerringbro |
|
Arrived at the Dutch "Club Gemert de Boules" close to Eindhoven, the exchange of gifts took place. In the picture is the three chairmen from Germany, The Netherlands and Denmark. |
The chairmen with there presents. |
After a warm welcome we drew a number each of us. These numbers were used to set the teams. It was possible to be part of a team from all three countries.
The play is started. Here you see among others Henry, Birthe and Jørn. |
A view of the many players, Dutchman, Germans and Danes. |
A close look by the eye of Benthe. |
Inger and Jens playing. In the background you see Henry, Gerda and Jørn |
Margit has just thrown a ball. Jan and Vesti are judging the throw. |
Tove and Henry in fight. The ball of Tove is still in the air. |
The measuring. Many times, it is often the small marginals that settle a fight or round. |
Sometimes, there are many players. In the background you see a number of players German, Dutch and Danish. |
A look at the sky tells that the weather was not at its best. It was cold and windy, but dry. |
Time for refreshments. |
Preparing dinner on very large pans. The Dutch chairman was also chef. |
A female touch was in the right place. |
It is shown that the preparing of dinner is ongoing. The pans were full. |
The meat is taken directly from the pans. |
The accompaniment to the meat was also good. |
Is'nt it just delicious! |
After dinner the players entertain each other |
A lot of talks and toasts and people having a good time. |
There was also place for a dance.
